Vallis First school Felt picture January -April 2017

Bessie worked with all 266 children of Vallis first school to create a large picture to go in their school hall. Every child made a creature individually on the picture and they all felted it in the playground on a wet winters day.

First each child worked with Bessie to learn about felt and how to make it . They all made a small felt picture to take home.
The picture was divided in to 10 sections Bessie laided out the wool fibres of each section. She then brought them to each of the ten classes to make creatures for..

Laying out the fibres to make the backing in the school hall

Bessie spent a entire weekend in the school hall laying out the fibres to create a backing for the ten sections of the picture to come together.
